5 things to do in London this Christmas time


Christmas is fast approaching and around this time of year we start think how we can get in the festive mood. There is so much to see and do in London and we wanted to share these fun ideas with you as there is so much to explore with friends and family this festive period.  The Collection team have compiled a list of festivals, activities and many more that are available in and around Central London to keep you and your family entertained this December!

Christmas at Kew Gardens

When? November 22nd- January 5th

Cost of entry? Various prices available such as peak, off-peak or super peak

Experience the bright lights at Kew Gardens at night, with new and festive lights surrounding their beautiful flowers as well as visiting their laser garden. Australian creative studio, Mandylights have created the laser garden to offer a futuristic display which not only delights but compliments the beauty of the Woodland trees. In addition, the Café will also be serving seasonal treats including delicious favourites such as mince pies, spiced cider and even mulled wine!

Hyde Park Winter Wonderland

When? November 22nd – January 6th

Cost of entry? Free

The annual Winter Wonderland will open its doors in late November allowing you to experience the many attractions including fair rides and ferris wheels. As well as being popular for its wide range of shows and activities, it also has one of the largest ice rinks in the UK! After you’ve tried your hand to a session on the ice rink, head for a pit stop near The Fire Pit where you can enjoy seasonal snacks including roasted marshmallows – yum!

Southbank Centre Wintertime Market

When? November 9th – January 6th

Cost of entry? Free

Come and visit the Southbank as you’ve never seen it before, decorated with bright lights and a wide selection of huts serving a variety of street food, craft beers and artisan gifts. Guests here can enjoy free performances including Circus 1903 which includes spectacular and mesmerising puppetry straight from the Paris Theatre in Las Vegas.

City Christmas Fair 2018

When? December 3rd

Cost of entry? £10 or 3 for £20 if booked before November 26

Prefer being indoors? Draper Hall be hosting their annual Christmas Fair in support of the well-being of women which means you won’t just be enjoying yourself but also helping women in the London Community. An indoor market, boasting more than 50 stalls for gifts, food and much more! If you’re competitive, you could also enter one of the raffles or even take place in widely popular silent auction to win prizes a fabulous prize!

Natural History Museum Ice Rink

When? October 25th – January 20th

Cost of Entry? Adults from £12.65, children from £8.80, families from £39.60

Skate along one of London’s most iconic festive ice rinks at the Natural History Museum, surrounded by frost-covered trees and bright lights. Stop for a delicious hot chocolate to warm you up, and even head in for a peek at Hope the whale afterwards!
