Five Small Wedding Venues in London

The dreams of a big white wedding have been put on hold for many in 2020, as we’ve seen travel restrictions, social distancing rules and group size limits be implemented across the UK. However, in the wake of this year’s unfortunate events there is a new trend emerging as lockdown has been gradually eased.

During lockdown we have all realised that being with your loved ones and keeping safe is so important. Many have also concluded that why should they put their wedding on hold and have started to look at holding a smaller gathering in line with the government guidelines. When hosting at small, intimate wedding, you can really focus on sharing the joy with those you are closest to and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Intimate weddings not only save you money that you could use on other aspects of your big day, but they are often less stressful to organise and offer more opportunity to get creative. To help you plan your special day, we have created a list of our favourite small wedding venues in London to give you some inspiration.

AllBright Mayfair

AllBright is the key word for this central Mayfair venue, as each room within the building is filled with natural daylight and accentuated with modern pops of colour. The members club has been designed for and by women (but don’t worry, men are allowed!) and has a Manhattan converted loft feel with two large roof terraces offering stunning views.

The private dining rooms are charming and elegant, and the menus all bursting with freshness and flavour. AllBright Mayfair is the perfect example of how small weddings can still be stylish, as every aspect of the venue has been carefully selected to create a chic and sophisticated event.

{10-11} Carlton House Terrace

This Central London townhouse is a dream choice for an intimate wedding. The Grade I-listed Georgian property boasts large windows, a black marble staircase, high ceilings and Corinthian columns. Located at the heart of St James, a stone throw from Trafalgar Square the venue offers stunning views across the Mall, Waterloo Place and St James’s Park.

The beauty of this venue is that there are multiple rooms that can be used for different elements of your big day- with the option to hire the venue exclusively providing a luxury feel to your wedding.

The Marylebone Hotel

The Marylebone Hotel is a trendy and modern venue with a choice of indoor and outdoor spaces to say ‘I do’. The interior of the hotel is bright and airy and showcases an array of modern artwork and colourful furnishings. Our favourite space is the stunning Courtyard, an outside terrace featuring a garden wall that offers an intimate open fire and a retractable roof for the unpredictable British weather.

We are sure you will agree that one of the most important parts to your big day is the catering. The Marylebone offers food menus filled with indulgent, high-quality ingredients and creative twists, while the extensive wine list offers choices from all corners of the globe.

Century Club

This private members club in Soho offers multiple spaces for an intimate ceremony and reception within its exposed brick walls. The Club Room is a relaxed space with distinctive decor and its own private bar, while the cocktail bar offers a flexible layout for standing receptions.

Century Club’s Roof Terrace is the jewel in its crown, offering views over the London skyline, a large bar and an adjoining balcony area where you and your new spouse can slip off for a glass of Champagne. The venue’s chefs will work with your preferences to create a wedding menu that’s packed with flavour and unique to you and your other half.

Swan at Shakespeare’s Globe

Few London wedding venues are as tied up in a history of romance than the Swan at Shakesepeare’s Globe. The period features, intimate spaces and views of St Paul’s help to bring the magic of the bard’s plays alive, while bespoke cocktails, stunning floristry and acoustic musicians add extra-special touches to your big day.

The Balcony Room looks over the Globe Theatre and the River Thames, providing a show-stopping backdrop for your wedding photographs. You can even hire Shakespearean entertainers to send you off into married life in style.
