Planning a wedding can be a minefield so we have put together our top tips on what to think about first.
Take a ring selfie!
A picture is worth a thousand words, right? If you’re ready to share with the world that you’re engaged, open up that Instagram! Take a ring selfie or a sweet pic of you and your fiancé to share the love.

Get your ring insured
This can be done really quickly and there are many online sites that can do it in a matter of minutes, this will give you piece of mind.
Think of a date for the big day
You will be asked a thousand times by family and friends when the big day is, so even if you have not confirmed a fixed date at the moment, think of a general time of year. Things to consider when thinking about your wedding date is of course your budget, off season weddings from November – March tend to be much cheaper so this is worth considering if you are working towards a tight budget. But if budget is no issue then you can pretty much pick when and where, however be aware weddings in summer months at weekends tend to be booked up 12-18 months in advance. Get in touch with us and we advise and recommend the best venues.
Think about your budget
Weddings don’t have to cost the world, but setting out a budget in the beginning is a good place start. There are lots of wedding budget tools available online free of charge, or you could just keep it old school and write everything down!
Think about how many guests you want at your wedding
Whether you’re going big or keeping it small, being on the same page about this one is so important. Get your family’s input if it matters to either of you or if they’ll be footing the bill. Once you’ve agreed on a rough guest count and budget (we’ll get to that next), you can commit to a venue.
Select a venue for your big day
This is were the wedding team at The Collection Events can help, we work with over 350 venues. We have a specialist team that can help source the perfect wedding venue for you. Whether you are looking for a venue for the whole wedding or just the wedding breakfast and party, we have a venue for every event, contact us.

Use this opportunity to ask all those important questions such as which room will be used for the ceremony, and which one for dancing the night away! The Collection Events arrange all of your site visits for you, taking the hassle out of calling around all the venues.
Ask friends for supplier recommendations
As at every wedding theirs are lots of moving parts in the form of different suppliers, from florists, & the photographer, to the DJ to someone making your save the dates, invites and table plans and place cards and even you cake maker. Do not worry, asking friends is a great way of getting a personal recommendation to a supplier. The Collection also have a little black book of suppliers and we can assist with all of these elements too, so ask away, that is what we are here for!
Think about who will be your bridesmaids
The majority of women have their chosen bridesmaids planned out already, so once the ring is officially on your finger, you can announce to the lucky girls what their role will be. This is probably one of the most fun stages of planning a wedding and it’s a really good excuse to pop open a bottle of Prosecco and celebrate, again!
