Roman Baths & Pump Room
Situated at the heart of the World Heritage Site, the award-winning Roman Baths & Pump Room is undoubtedly one of the country’s most distinctive buildings.
Whether you’re planning an intimate gathering or a larger celebration, this remarkable and unique venue, shaped by over 2,000 years of history, offers a striking, torchlit setting beside Britain’s only naturally hot spring. It’s a place where the past comes alive, creating an atmosphere your guests will be talking about long after the event.
The Roman Baths & Pump Room lies at the heart of Bath’s UNESCO World Heritage Site, showcasing nearly two millennia of history. Renowned as one of Britain’s most iconic landmarks, this venue combines historical grandeur with an enduring atmosphere that has drawn people for centuries.
The Roman Baths provide a unique outdoor yet sheltered space for drinks receptions, where your guests will be wowed by centuries of tradition and wonder.
Upstairs there is a choice of reception rooms, and the venue can, therefore, cater for intimate groups as well as much larger events.
Receptions at The Pump Room are tailored to your vision, with Searcys offering exceptional service and bespoke details. White table linens, napkins, and customised menus are included, ensuring an intimate and refined dining experience.
The Pump Room Complex also has three rooms available suited to small meetings, some overlooking the grand Bath Abbey and another overlooking the historic Roman Bath itself.
Although there is no accommodation on site, Bath offers various options to suit all styles, from luxurious hotels to charming guesthouses; your guests will find the perfect choice in this celebrated city.
Searcys presents menus that pair classic British dishes with a contemporary twist, emphasising seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. Options range from three-course feasts to lighter meals, catering for all dietary needs.
The Roman Baths and Pump Room are members of the Sustainable Wedding Alliance and work closely with Searcys, whose catering is accredited by the Sustainable Restaurant Association. Their approach includes using responsibly sourced produce, reducing food waste and supporting British suppliers.
There is a zero-waste-to-landfill policy, with all non-recyclable waste sent to a local energy recovery facility. Energy use is carefully managed through motion-sensitive lighting, scheduled building systems, and continued adoption of LED lighting. Heat from the natural thermal springs is used to warm parts of the site, and all purchased electricity is certified as renewable.
The website is hosted using green energy, and a dedicated sustainability manager is leading work towards Green Tourism accreditation. All permanent staff have undertaken full-Carbon Literacy training.
Venue hire directly supports the wider heritage service, helping to fund cultural work and social care initiatives across Bath and North East Somerset.
