Olivia Plummer – My Five star First week!

OUR BRAND NEW INTERN OLIVIA PLUMMER TALKS ABOUT HER AMAZING FIRST WEEK AS SALES AND MARKETING EXECUTIVE HERE AT THE COLLECTION EVENTS. WHAT A WEEK IT HAS BEEN TO START AT THE COLLECTION EVENTS! 3 LUXURY HOTELS, 3 TOP RESTAURANTS/BRASSIERES, AND 3 MUSEUMS ALL IN MY FIRST WEEK!

As a student from Bournemouth University I didn’t know what to expect from my first week interning at The Collection Events, but wow. It has been amazing!

Being new to the events industry and London, a vital part of my job role is understanding the layouts and locations of numerous venues. Therefore, my first week consisted of shadowing  Account Manager Izzy, as she went from appointment to appointment all over London to discuss our latest learning and networking event, The Summer Seminar Series

Ready. Set. Go!

To start off the week, I met with the girls in our office (5th Floor, 100 Grays Inn Road), we had a quick catch up before they began running through the basics and giving me the office tour. (Supplying me with the essential coffee and tea making tips!)

Next up was the an overview of the customer enquiry process and a pit stop tour of the Collections stunning website, which has over 750 venue partners listed to date, and is constantly growing! The great thing is the team only work with venues that one of us have personally seen, meaning that we always give clients the most suitable venues to meet their specific brief.

I have already been so lucky in this job role, visiting so many beautiful venues. From ‘The Bulgari, a luxury hotel in Knightsbridge to ‘Madame Tussauds’, an events space with a twist. You never know who you might get a picture with! Viewing the venues and meeting the sales teams is essential in becoming a good venue finder, I am told – knowing the spaces, ensures we only give the best suggestions over to our clients.

My personal favourite of the week was the site visit of The Savoy, we met with the lovely  Marianna from the events team for breakfast to run through the SSS (Summer Seminar Series), then explored the private dining rooms. Including ‘The Pinafore Room’, a beautiful space well- known as the home of ‘The Other Club’, a private dining club set up by Winston Churchill.

Back to the office…

Following on from the site visits, we returned to the office to sort through new enquiries and call clients to ensure we have all the information we need.  Next was a marketing task in the form of designing a invitation for our next TLC ( The Loyalty Collection) event  at The Tower of London on Tuesday 2nd July, where we will be hosting 40 VIP clients for a private tour of the Queens Jewels, which I am very excited about! I am loving every aspect of this internship so far and look forward to everything to come!

These are all the places I have been able to visit this week:

I can’t wait to keep you up-to-date with the new venue openings we explore and fabulous events we hold as part of our TLC and Summer Seminar Series and of course, I would love to help you in finding your the perfect venue for your next event enquiry!!
